Campervan Rental Agreement Terms & Conditions

RESERVATIONS & PAYMENT

All reservations must be paid in full at the time of booking. Add-ons may be added any time until pickup date, and must be paid in full at the time of booking. A 3% Alaska state vehicle rental tax and an 8% Municipality of Anchorage vehicle rental tax with a maximum charge of $240 applies to all reservations.

Renters must have a major credit card. Get Lost Travel Vans will charge a $600 deposit 1 day before pickup date. When the vehicle is returned in good condition with all add-ons and camper van items and without damages except normal wear and tear, the deposit will be returned.

VEHICLE PICKUP AND RETURN

Get Lost Travel Vans is open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily. Vehicle pickup and return must be during these hours; there is no after-hours pickup or return except in special circumstances, which must be arranged in advance. Vehicles may be picked up starting at 10:00 a.m.

Vehicles must be returned no later than 2:00 p.m. on the return date. There is a 2-hour grace period. After 4:00 p.m., a late fee of $100 may apply. Failure to return the vehicle by close of business on the return date may incur a non-return fee of up to $600.

Reservations may be extended after pickup depending on fleet availability and must be agreed to by Get Lost Travel Vans. Payment for any additional days must be made in full at the time of change to reservation.

CANCELLATIONS & CHANGES

Reservations are guaranteed at the time of booking, once payment in full has been received. Reservations may be cancelled for a full refund less a 3% administrative fee if there are more than 30 days remaining before pickup date. Reservations cancelled within 30 days of pickup date will not receive a refund. No shows will not receive a refund.

Reservation dates may be changed without penalty depending on fleet availability. Reservations moved from lower-rate periods to higher-rate periods will be charged the difference in rate. Additional days may be added to the length of the original reservation and must be paid in full at the time of change. Days may also be removed from the length of the original reservation, but will not be refunded if the change takes place within 30 days of the original reservation.

RENTER RESPONSIBILITIES

Renters and authorized drivers must have a valid driver’s license for the duration of the rental and must be age 21 or older.

Renters are responsible for all damage to, loss of, or theft of the vehicle during the rental period, up to and including the full cost of the vehicle if it is  declared a total loss. Renters may also be responsible for administrative fees or fees incurred in enforcing this agreement. Renters must report all accidents or incidents of theft or vandalism to Get Lost Travel Vans and the police as soon as they are discovered.

Renters will receive detailed instructions on the proper use and storage of the camper van and its items, including kitchen, rooftop tent and interior bed. Any damage resulting from using the camper van in violation of these instructions will be the responsibility of the renter, including fines, fees, replacement costs and repair costs.

Vehicles must be returned with a full fuel tank. If the vehicle is returned with less fuel, renters will be responsible for the cost to refill the tank plus a $50 refueling fee.

Moving violations and parking fines or fees must be paid by the renter at the time they are incurred. If they are not paid, Get Lost Travel Vans will charge the renter a $50 administrative fee in addition to the original fine.

Renters are responsible for cracked or broken windshields as well as flat tires. Vehicles returned with a flat tire or broken windshield will incur a repair fee of $200 per tire or $320 per windshield for Travel Vans, and $250 per tire and $1200 for Travel SUVs.

There is no smoking inside the vehicles. If a vehicle is returned smelling of smoke, a cleaning fee of up to $600 will be charged.

Up to two (2) pets are allowed with the addition of the Pet Cleaning Fee in designated Pet-Friendly vans. Reasonable dirt and hair is included with the fee; if a vehicle is returned with any animal waste, excessive hair or excessive animal-related stains or soil, an additional cleaning fee of up to $600 will be charged.

TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS & PROHIBITED USES

Vehicles must only be driven on maintained and improved roads. Vehicles must not be taken onto unimproved or poorly maintained roads, including the Dalton Highway, McCarthy Road, Denali Highway, or any other road requiring 4-wheel drive or other specialty vehicle. Vehicles must not be driven off-road. Vehicles must not be driven to or in Mexico.

Vehicles must not be used in violation of the law. Each passenger must use a seatbelt whenever the vehicle is in motion. Phones or other electronic devices used while driving must be used in hands-free mode. Vehicles should not be driven when the fluid levels are low or when it’s reasonably obvious that further operation would damage the vehicle.

Renters must not use the vehicle under the influence of alcohol or any drug, including marijuana.

EMERGENCY & ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE & ACCIDENT REPORTING

In an emergency, always dial 911.

Accidents must be reported to Get Lost Travel Vans within twenty-four (24) hours, and must be accompanied by a police report. Refer to the “What to do in case of accident” card for help. Theft or vandalism of the vehicle or vehicle components must be reported to Get Lost Travel Vans within twenty-four (24) hours and must be accompanied by a police report. Refunds or van replacement will be at the sole discretion of Get Lost Travel Vans and will depend on fleet availability as well as cause of accident or theft. Damages due to illegal or improper use of the vehicle are the renter’s responsibility and any remaining days on the reservation must be forfeited without refund. If roadside assistance is needed, consult the instruction book inside the van for the local area garages and towing companies. Improper use and maintenance of the camper van that results in mechanical damages or systems failures are the responsibility of the renter, and any remaining days on the reservation after the problem occurs will be forfeited without refund. If the problem is not the result of improper use and maintenance, Get Lost Travel Vans will replace the camper van for the remainder of the reservation, or will refund the unused portion of the reservation.
