We usually answer that question with a qualified yes. The Denali Highway is a really popular road through Denali State Park, but it has a reputation for being very rough. The road does get smoothed out occasionally throughout the summer, but it doesn’t happen very often, and the road gets rough pretty quickly. So, if it’s been recently smoothed or graded, we will say yes during the check in process. If the road is in rough shape, we may say no.

We do uniformly restrict travel on the McCarthy Road and the Dalton Highways. These roads are notorious in Alaska for their rough conditions, and even 4x4s get stuck or damaged while traveling them. Please do not take our travel vans on either of these roads, or on any road that requires 4-wheel drive. These vans are minivans, family cars, not off-road vehicles!
